How it works

  1. Paste your names. Make a list with one row per person. Add a column for the message or the sender if you want it on the tag. Paste it with the heading row, or upload the file.
  2. Pick a label sheet. Choose a round sheet for small gift stickers, or a rectangle sheet such as 5163 for bigger tags. Round sheets are on the SL108 page and the OL1027 page.
  3. Type your wording and print. Type To: {Name} and any message you want. Print a test page first, then print at 100%.

Round labels suit small gifts and stickers. A rectangle label gives you room for a short message.

For 40 gifts on round 2.5-inch labels, print 4 sheets. Each sheet holds 12 labels, so you get 48 spaces.

A round sticker looks neat on a box, a bag or a card. A rectangle tag gives you more room for a note, so choose it when the message matters as much as the name.

Write the message

A gift tag has room for very little, so keep the wording short. Here are three simple patterns:

  • Name only: To: {Name}. This works well on a round sticker.
  • Name and sender: To: {Name} and From: {Sender}. Add a Sender column to your list, and the name and the sender come from each row.
  • Name and a short note: To: {Name}, with a line such as Thank you for a great year. Use this on a rectangle label, where there is room for two or three short lines.

Test the longest name on your list first. If it does not fit, make the text a little smaller for that tag, or use a rectangle sheet.

Ideas you can type

Type a change in plain words, and the AI helper applies it to every tag:

  • "Put the name on its own line in big letters"
  • "Make the tags for the family orange and the friends blue"
  • "Sort by name, so the tags come off the sheet in order"
  • "Make it elegant"
  • "Make the picture fill the background, very faint" (after you add a picture in the Design step)

Tips

  • Keep the message to two or three short lines, so it fits the label.
  • Check the spelling of names. A wrong name is the first thing the person sees.
  • Print at 100% or Actual size, so the text sits in the middle of each label.
  • Use a round sheet for stickers and a rectangle sheet for a longer message.
  • Try a few names first, then print the whole list when the tags look right.

Questions

Can I make gift tags from a list of names?

Yes. Paste one row per person, then type To: {Name} as the wording. Every row becomes one tag.

What size is a round gift tag?

SL108 and OL1027 are 2.5 inch round labels with 12 per sheet. OL1025 is a 1 inch round label with 63 per sheet, which suits small seals and stickers.

Can I print gift tags on cardstock?

These are sticker labels for label sheets. For hang tags on card, you can use a business card sheet such as Avery® 8371, then punch a hole in each card. Test one first.

How do I make the name stand out?

Type a change in plain words, such as put the name on its own line in big letters. It changes every tag at once.
