How it works

  1. Paste your address list. Copy the rows from Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers, with the heading row, such as Name, Street, City, State and ZIP. You can also upload the file.
  2. Pick your sheet. Choose Avery® 5160 for the standard 30 labels per sheet, or pick another size from the table below. LabelPeel guesses the columns, and you can change them from the tick list.
  3. Print a test page. Print on plain paper and hold it over a label sheet to check the lines. Then print on your labels at 100% or Actual size.

Make address labels

Which address label sheet?

Use the sheet that matches your printer and your addresses. Longer addresses need a wider label, and a return address needs a smaller one. These sheets are the most common choices:

SheetSizeLabels per sheetGood forSheet page

Avery® 51611" × 4"20Longer addresses5161

Not sure about the size? Read the guide to Avery label sizes, or compare the 5160 and 8160 sheets, which have the same layout.

Postage and return labels

LabelPeel prints the addresses. It does not buy postage, and it does not print postage. Return labels work the same way: add your return address to a small sheet, and print one for each envelope or flap.

Common problems

  • The text is off the label. The sheet and the size in LabelPeel do not match. Check the product number on your box, and choose that sheet again.
  • The lines do not line up. The page was scaled when you printed. Print at 100% or Actual size, and print a test page on plain paper first.
  • Labels print in the wrong order. Sort your list before you paste it, then check the first few labels on a test page.
  • An extra blank page prints. Turn off any setting that adds a blank sheet, and print only the pages you need.

Ideas you can type

The AI helper changes every label at once. Try asking for:

  • "Sort by ZIP"
  • "Put the first name on its own line in big letters"
  • "Make the labels where Country is not USA bold"
  • "Use a serif font and dark green text"
  • "Make it elegant"
  • "Move the logo to the right and make it smaller" (after you add your logo in the Design step)

Tips

  • Clean your list first. Remove blank rows, and check for duplicate names.
  • If ZIP codes start with zero, such as 02134, keep them as text in Excel so the zero is not lost.
  • Print a test page on plain paper before you use a full sheet.
  • Print at 100% or Actual size, and turn off Fit to page.
  • Have a half-used sheet? Use "start at label N" to skip the labels you already printed.

Questions

Which label sheet is best for address labels?

Avery® 5160 is a common choice in the US. Each label is 1 inch by 2⅝ inches, and there are 30 labels on a sheet. It fits most standard mailing addresses.

Does LabelPeel print postage too?

No. LabelPeel prints the address labels from your list. It does not buy or print postage, so get postage from the post office or your postage service.

Can I make return address labels?

Yes. Make a small label on Avery® 5167 or 5160 with your return address, and use the same text on every label.

Why do my labels not line up?

Most often the page is scaled. Print at 100% or Actual size, turn off Fit to page, and print a test page on plain paper first.
