Place card template

Make place cards and name tents from a guest list. Each row becomes one folding card, and the words print both ways so they read right from either side.

Free while in beta · no card needed

How it works

  1. Paste your guest list. Each row becomes one card. Include a name column and a table column. You can start from the wedding guest list template.
  2. Choose Avery® 5302 or 5305. The editor shows the fold line, so you can see where each card folds.
  3. Print a test, then the sheet. Print a test page on plain paper and hold it against a tent card sheet. Then print the real sheet at 100%.

Each tent card prints your words twice. The bottom half is upright, and the top half is upside down. Once you fold the card, the words read the right way from both sides of the table.

Place cards are the most common use, but the same sheets work well for:

  • Weddings: guest name and table number from the guest list.
  • Events and dinners: a name and a seat or table.
  • Classrooms: name tents on each desk.
  • Meetings: a first name or company on each seat.

Set up the guest list

Use one row per guest. Give each row a name column and a table column, and keep the same spelling for the same guest in every list. For a couple with two names on one card, write both names in one cell, such as "Alex and Sam Lee", or use one card per person. Remove any guests who will not come, so you do not print cards you do not need.

Sort the list by table, or by last name, before you print. The AI helper can sort the cards for you, so you can keep your original list as it is.

Ideas you can type

The AI helper changes every card at once. Try asking for:

  • "Make the names elegant script"
  • "Put the table number big above each name"
  • "Make the cards where Table is 4 green"
  • "Sort the cards by last name"
  • "Use a small serif font for the names"

Common mistakes

These slips cause most problems with tent cards:

  • Printing on the wrong sheet size. Check the sheet code in the editor and the sheet in your printer tray. Pick Avery® 5302 for small cards and Avery® 5305 for the taller ones.
  • Forgetting to fold. Fold the card along the line the editor shows. If you fold it in the wrong place, the words will not read well from both sides.
  • Scaling the print. If the printer shrinks the page, the words will sit off the card. Print at 100% or Actual size.
  • Skipping the test page. A test on plain paper takes a minute and shows the fold, the spacing and the spelling before you use the real sheet.

If you make cards for a large event, print one table first. Check it on the table, then print the rest.

Tips

  • Test before you print the sheet. Fold the test page and check that the words read well from both sides.
  • Check the spelling. Compare the names with your guest list before you print. A small typo shows up fast on a table.
  • Keep the table numbers easy to read. Make them big, and use a color with strong contrast.
  • Keep a spare sheet. Tent card sheets are easy to misprint, so keep one spare in case of a mistake.

Questions

Do the names print upside down on the card?

Yes, on purpose. LabelPeel prints your words upright on the bottom half and upside down on the top half. After you fold the card, the words read the right way from both sides.

How many place cards fit on a sheet?

Avery® 5302 small tent cards give you 4 per US Letter sheet, and Avery® 5305 medium tent cards give you 2 per sheet.

Can I make place cards from a guest list?

Yes. Paste the list with a heading row, such as Name and Table. Each row becomes one card, and you can sort or color the cards with the AI helper.

Can I use the large tent cards, Avery® 5309?

Not yet. LabelPeel supports the Avery® 5302 and 5305 tent cards for now.
